The Best Way To Dry Your Dog
Skipper has been looking forward to this moment all week, finally, his time to play in the water has come. But in the back of your mind, you're hoping he doesn't trash your car freshly cleaned seats with moisture, dirt, and a ton of loose hairs.
Everybody seems to have a different way of drying their dog, some are effective and others make you ask yourself: "There has to be a better way to do that!"
This is even more important when it comes to double coats, they require much more drying than the average dog. If their coat isn't dried properly, they can become very cold and perhaps even sick.
The tricky part is trying to dry their coat thoroughly. It may appear completely dry, but in fact, their undercoat can still be wet. That's why it's important to make sure your dog is dried off completely after a bath, swim, or day at the beach.
Most people use bath towels to dry their soaking dogs, this is a big mistake because they drip water everywhere and don't have proper absorption. It's time we shared an effective and systematic process to dry your dog that works even on double coats!
First, get a microfiber towel. They're better than using a bath towel because they wick away excess water and have better absorption. If you don't have a microfiber towel, you can get away without one by using a dog grooming blow dryer.
When using a microfiber towel, start by drying the top of your dog. Lots of water builds up on the ridge of the back and trickles down the dog's sides. Go front to back and use treats to keep them happy if necessary.
Using your dog blow dryer, start on either side and work your way front to back and top to bottom, making sure to get the chest and belly. This will help you thoroughly dry their entire coat and be as efficient as possible.
By doing it this way, you're using gravity to make your job easier by letting the water drip down towards the belly and legs. If your dog has long hair, make sure to aim the dryer at the tips of the hair around the belly. That's where most of the water will be dripping off, and you're accelerating the process.
Make sure not to use a human hairdryer because the high heat can burn your dog, our dog blow dryer has an adjustable temperature and it's safe to use, even on the highest setting.
A dog's coat must be taken care of or else it can do harm to their health, that's why it's important to use a blow dryer made specifically for your furry friend.
Put this process to work next time you dry your dog. We hope you find this useful and thanks for reading!
